OUR STORY…SO FAR

Ta-da is a proposed creative studio and community space in Québec City. The enterprise is being developed to address a gap in the local market: a welcoming, affordable, flexible place open daily, where people can simply arrive and create, without the barriers of expensive equipment, rigid schedules, long-term commitments, or intimidating cultural environments.

Ta-da combines shared studio access, creative co-working, community programming, workshops, small-scale gallery retail, and inclusive social space. The project is intentionally designed to support neurodivergent adults, LGBTQ+ community members, immigrants and newcomers, while remaining open to all…

In the words of our founder:

Two months after my redundancy, I was chatting with a friend about his wife's new store. She sold candy from around the world, clever little gifts, stationery, and her own stunning papier-mâché art. It hit me like a bolt from the blue: someone built exactly the business that they wanted for themselves.

One moment later, the idea for Ta-da entered my brain nearly fully formed. We're not starting from scratch—we're standing on shoulders. Inspired by models like The Scrap Exchange in Durham, North Carolina, Craft Raccoon in Columbus Ohio, and New Obsession in Austin, Texas. We believe creative infrastructure matters.

After decades in the internet industry where my creative practice gathered dust (alongside two unused art degrees), I know what it feels like to want space but find it doesn't exist. Or to find a space but feel too intimidated to try it out. I want Ta-da to be that missing piece——not just for me, but for everyone. And not someday——now.
